Again, I got bored of the routine of FFXI. I stumbled onto a simple MMORPG that I tried way back in 2004 when I was still in the States, Maple Story. It is quite interesting as it’s simple to play, free (if you’re not interested customising your character) and I’m not all powerless as a *what else* magician.

I thought I’d stop after a few days, but apparently I was wrong. I keep wanting to play more MS instead of FFXI and now my magician is lvl 25

BLM Merit
So, I’m done with getting a red mage subjob and there lies an even heavier task of getting merits for my black mage. Judging from the amount of persistence and hard work that I will need in this path, I’m considering a few alternatives. One is to solo my merits, hopefully joining manaburn parties, the other one is to level Red Mage to 75 and then join tp burn parties.

A few advantages and disadvantages follow: taking the black mage route means that I will not be dependent on getting a party to get the limit points, might be slower, but more consistent. Another thing to consider is my short irregular playtime and constant parents aggro during my playtime. I dont know if my mom has some special kind of radar, but she tends to aggro me right when I got a party and arrived at camp and she can be quite persistent. Leaving a manaburn party as a black mage is easier than leaving a tp burn party as a red mage (never been in one but I’d imagine that would be the case).

Typing all these reasons might make some people say “Then what else are you waiting for?!” There’s another big reason for me needing a party…. I am completely useless at soloing and an utter disaster at avoiding aggro, which is why I don’t do melee. I’ll end up MPK-ing my entire party I have to pull (probably). I can only guess at the reason, maybe I panic way too easily and end up never getting the right macro at the right time. Though I made sure that I have all the enfeebling equipment I can get. If there’s any reader (I don’t even think this blog has one :p) who have joined both burn parties, maybe you can give me an insight?

As for what to merit, here’s the list copied from Nerull found in KillingIfrit forum:

  • Elemental Magic => 8
  • Lightning Magic Potency => 5
  • Ice Magic Potency => 5
  • INT => 5
  • Enmity Decrease => 4
  • Max MP => 8
  • Freeze II => 2
  • Burst II => 3
  • Flood II => 1
  • Enfeebling Magic => 8
  • Spell Interruption Rate => 4
  • Evasion Skill => 4

So judging from the amount of limit points that I need, It’ll probably be 2009 before I can finish BLM Merit *joy*

Lvl 37 Red Mage
After regularly using my meager 3 hours playtime a day to level red mage, I finally manage to hit lvl 37! My last JP party disbanded when I was only about 1400 xp away. Tarothin suggested to get the rest from Goblin’s Spider in East Altepa Desert, big thanks to him!

I put my flag up for *only* an hour before I got a blind invite from a BLU. The party came with a PL which makes it a little awkward because at times I’m just not sure whether I should be healing or just plain nuking. It was only after the PL-er screamed {Elemental Magic} only!! that I just don’t care about the yellow HP bar… I’m a RDM, so I dont wanna be blamed if there’s any death.

We partied for about three hours in which the members left one by one and in the end it was only me, THF, the BLU and the PL. I toughed it out just cause I want to get 31 so I don’t have to go back there anymore :D and at the last mob, both me and the THF leveled so it was perfect. I got my level and we disbanded

Garlaige Citadel is next!!

Bonecraft
Continuing this whenever-I-like-to-post blog, although any leveling stops at the moment while I try to juggle placement, school work, dissertasion, boyfriend and DS games, I made some progress in leveling Bonecraft.
I’m using an old guide from Allakhazam, however I mixed in a few things which seems more economic for me. Such as doing some Titanictus Shell to skill up to 40. Hopefully it would also raise my fishing skill which is at 96 now.
Yesterday I did some fishing on the ferry to measure on how fast I can reel in Titanictus, dissapointingly I could only caught 12 in 5 ferry rides, I need to sit some rides out when Sea Horror pops and no one to kill it. So therefore only skilling on Titanictus until 40 will definitely takes too long

After hitting lvl 30 Bonecraft, my inventory starts to get full. I can’t decide whether to just sell my 3 stacks of Beetle Arrowheads at only 5000 Gil a stack (quite a loss) or just store them somewhere in my mules until I can make them into arrows and make some profit off of it. Of course in the end I didn’t decide and just leave the arrowheads sitting around in my gobbie bag

I found out that Cleveland and Etiene are out in Boyahda Tree to skill up and I though “Heck, might as well..” It was not sooner until Cleveland aggroed a Korrigan that I realized my macros are gone ; ; He almost died when I scrambled between macro palletes to find a Sleep macro.
About 45 mins later Tiamat popped, and we got about 7 people woke up and logged in at 4 am their time to fight Tiamat, and in total there were only 12 of us. It took a long time for sure, and I didn’t have macro whatsoever (still) that I had a hard time trying to stun its Firaga 3’s

Too bad that I had to go out to dinner with family when it was down to about 75%, but actually I’m a little relieved cause I imagine it would take quite some time to kill
