Camping Shikigami Weapon
Aug/050
Camping Fafnir again today, this is getting boring. After sitting around for a few hours, other linkshell got the dragon =/
After, I was determined to get my lv. 73. Set my flag up and not long I got an invite to a manaburn party. It’s a non-traditional party consisted of mages only instead of the normal setup (tank, melee, a healer, refresher and dd mage).
We had 4 BLMs, a RDM, and a SMN as a puller. They were all Japanese, so I just spent the whole exp-ing session watching them chatting away in Japanese >.o
I felt like a leech in that party, somehow my mp was always about twice theirs. When the skeleton comes, all the BLMs were casting their AOE spells. 2 were casting Firaga III, while me and another BLM cast Blizzaga III. My spell always did the most damage, so naturally the skeleton came after me. I stun it right away while the others start casting their next spell. As soon as stun went off I started casting Firaga III. But for almost everytime (when not resisted), the skeleton was always dead before my Firaga III went through. So was I wrong to stun it? I’m a taru so I don’t have that much HP, if I don’t stun it, it’ll hurt me =( and probably interrupt my spell casting anyway…
The party ended before I got my lvl, but I got a lot of exp so I’m not complaining ^^
Later that day, it was time for Shikigami Weapon. This NM drops Yinyang Robe which is really good for SMNs. The SMNs in our ls still need it, so we helped them to camp it. It is a new NM with less than 100% drop rate, so it’s overcamped. The mob itself is easy, but staying alive is a lot harder because people just throw common courtesy out of the window for this one. If you somehow get a claim on this NM, you can be sure that other people be pissed and they will train about half the mobs in Ro’maeve to kill you.
Our ls didn’t get the claim, but as we made our way out, we saw the ls who got it near the entrance. Of course, they were surrounded by about 8 other mobs that people brought to MPK them. Sad isn’t it?
Busy Day~

Small news: I got Lv. 69 fishing
(for those who cares)
Today’s fishing item is Ogre Eel, worth 5k+ GP. The bad news? It’s only found in the hell of Vana’diel, also known as Den of Rancor. Everything aggros there, not to mention they’re too strong for a little taru BLMs, the place is dark and depressing and just plain annoying. Not to mention I don’t have a map of the place so I had no idea where to find some water in that hell hole.
But hey, I’m down for a change of scenery, though it was for the worse. I packed up my Silent Oils, wore my pwetty Reraise Hairpin (so I don’t lose a big chunk of my hard earned exp when I die), hopped on to airship to Kazham and went out to the maze of Yhoator Jungle on chocobo.
As soon as I entered Den of Rancor, I got the feeling that at least I’m gonna die once fishing here, if not from aggro from the mobs at the water, it would be from not careful re-applying sneak cause there are mobs everywhere. There were a few exp parties @ the entrance, asked them where I can find pond, river, w/e and nobody knew. Great, so I spent about an hr wandering around, hoping to stumble upon a pond.
And I did, much to my joy, the small pond is surrounded by Den Scorpions, conned very tough to my lv. 72 BLM. Not a lot of room to re-apply sneak too. So I started fishing. Only needed 5 eels so it wouldn’t take too long, or so I thought. Every time I got something hooked (which I think was eel), I’d get ‘Sneak is wearing off’ warning. Had to scramble to stop fishing, squeezed myself into the corner and re-applying sneak while praying the scorp isn’t wandering close.
After I got the 4th eel, I noticed one scorpion was staring at me. It was far enough to not aggro, yet close enough to make me nervous. Suddenly I was lagging, and the 3 sneak warning came up at the same second plus the ‘Sneak wore off’ at the bottom. Quickly reached for my Silent Oil while swearing and hoping the scorp wouldn’t notice. Of course not, it fwapped me with its claw. Great.
Good thing I had Reraise 2 on thanks to the hairpin. Waited till the damned scorpion wandered away, quickly re-raised and hit the silent oil. Got my 5th eels and warped away to Jeuno. 5k GP! Only 15k more GP to go
Then it was Fafnir time. It was my first time. About 20 ppl from the ls gathered in Dragon’s Aery quickly. PXTZL (i don’t know if it’s the right spelling or not), Fortune, and Bonkurarz (again, sp?) which is a Japanese HNM ls were already there. There were a lot of Darters in there, pretty close to each other too. Made a mental note to myself not to attack any of these darters or it would be death.
Though, in the first window of spawn time, one pxt member somehow attacked a darter, links and deaths soon followed. Someone told me that somehow pxt ALWAYS makes that mistake whenever they’re camping Fafnir, and said that they were cursed lol.
After waiting for about an hr, Fafnir spawned. Was instantly voked by Jhun from Fortune, turned out that his ls didn’t have enough people. Then he gave Fafnir to Pxt, while the ‘unwritten’ rule seem to say ‘In case a linkshell is wiped or not able to take the HNM, the other ls present in the area to do a /random to decide which ls can take the HNM’.
Apparently there was some incident where Bonk made Jhun really mad. Greysoul, claimed as an asskisser by other non-JP players cause somehow he got into Hanabi (all JP HNM ls), claimed King Behemoth when he was alone without his ls and just gave it to Bonk without asking the other lses to do a /random. So Jhun wanted to claim Fafnir and give it to any ls other than Bonk. And since Fortune and Wabo seem to hate each other, Jhun gave Fafnir to Pxt.
After Pxt started fighting, Bonk left the area while we stayed there and watched. They were doing fine at first, then someone casted Banishga, which also hit the Darters and more death soon followed. Upon hearing this, Bonk returned to the camp and bugged Wabo to do a /random. Raziel, one of the leader in Wabo said, ‘No, you left the place already. Besides, did we get a chance to /random when Greysoul gave you King Behemoth?.
Not long after that, Pxt were wiped. Tarantuz voked the Fafnir and we were on!
It was a fun fight… hell it was really fun. The damage dealers are the mages, melee damage was to be at minimum as we don’t want it to gain TP and spam it’s nasty attacks. I casted Water 4, to my shock I found out that I only did 80 damage. That is so not right! Maybe cause I’m relatively low lvl, the other BLMs were 75 and their Water 4 do waaaaaaaaaaaaaay above 80.
When I was gonna go to bed around midnight, Emeraldstar told me that somebody hired him to help with , since I need to do it anyway, would I help? The person is willing to pay 2 million gil, and to split 5 way with the helpers. Not bad, I get to get rank 10 AND money. It was kinda late for me though, so I asked if I can get some sleep first. The answer was no. He said that we were gonna go when I finished my Windurst M9-1.
So I stayed up and tried to finish M9-1 and start M9-2 as fast as I could. In the middle of it, Eme said that he got another job, someone wants him to get all BLM AF except for the hat. And willing to pay with a Cassie Earring which worth about 5M. First, all AF means we have to get 3 coffer keys which don’t drop that often. 5 artifact gear could take a whole fuggin day. Obviously I wasn’t gonna stay up for all that. Screw the money, I don’t care that much.
I was finally ready for M9-2 @ 6am. Missions involves a lot of running around, not to mention I was lost in Toraimarai Canal for hours. I just followed Eme cause he said, ‘I know the way, just follow me’.
I checked with Eme, and turned out he was already doing the AF…. what was the point of me doing the missions?
Fafnir’s Breath Attack
Aug/050
Although I just went to bed @ 6am, somehow I woke up at 10am *yawns*
When I logged on, linkshell was already busy with camping some HNM. We went to camp Adamantoise, while hoping for Aspidochelone to pop. The timer between turtle and Fafnir overlapped by about 20 minutes, and the turtle hadn’t spawn after Fafnir’s timer started. Valley of Sorrow was packed though, various linkshells (though they were the same ppl again) like Bonk, Fortune and some others. PXTZLE, on the other hand, decided to skip turtle and went straight to Fafnir
After a few hours of waiting for turtle with no luck. Deacon, leader of PXT told us that Fafnir popped, but they didn’t have enough people. So we ditched turtle, thinking probably only Adamantoise would pop. Went straight to Dragon’s Aery where we found Deacon was laying dead at Fafnir’s feet ^^;.
It was weird to see one of the most camped HNM to just chill. We buffed and wait for the entire alliance to get there, then we heard that Aspidochelone popped, lol. Our luck ^^;
Finally everyone was there, we quickly go through the strategy. Jimbo said in Ventrilo that the tank should approach it from behind, because there’s a possibility the dragon will use its breath attack right away as it has TP from killing Deacon. Of course, as soon as Jimbo said it, Caliber, the tank, ran up to it. Fafnir turned to face him, which means that he turned to face our alliance and used breath attack right away and took out 1/3 of the alliance in one shot. I was just barely out of range of the attack, lucky (^^)v. To be honest.. it was hilarious lol, but I don’t think those dead people think the same way.
Since the people who got one shotted were mages, we scrambled to get them back to their feet. Only 1 WHM survived ^^;
Any surviving mage were concentrating on keeping the tanks alive as the WHM raised everybody else and mainly the other WHMs.
After they were all up and not weakened anymore, the fight went very smoothly. Fafnir went down pretty quickly.
No FFXI~!!!!!1!!11! AMAGAD!!
Aug/050
No FFXI tonight
, there’s a 18 hrs maintenance. Just great, there was another long maintenance not long ago. I couldn’t log till the next day too.. it was annoying. And it’s amazing how bored I am without FFXI.
Anyway, more babbles about some unimportant stuff that I did in FFXI before maintenance. I got lvl 68 fishing! yay! (high-lvl fishing == having too much time on your hands tbh :p). Only need about 40k more Guild Points before I can get my hands on Fisherman’s Apron.
Something slightly more interesting, I actually managed to wake up @5am to go with ls for Jormungand. The announcement for the run has been on ls message for quite awhile now. Yet not everybody showed up. Not enough ppl, only about 20 ppl when we needed about 30 to kill Jormungand properly.
We gathered in Ru’lude Garden @6am. The WHMs quickly ported us to Vahzl crystal in Xarcabard. We then made our way to one of the worst place in Vana’diel, Uleguerand Range *shudders*. The place is just nasty, mobs are conned VT to 75s, some dragon looking thing that has true-sight (can see through sneak and invis).
I made a mental note to stick to Rilu all the time. I’ve been hopelessly lost making my way for every run now, gotta pull myself together.
After a few aggros and death, we got to the camp. More waiting for ppl to get to the camp while the ls leader was complaining about the lack of ppl that showed up. Though we had about 10 less ppl than we needed, we decided to give it a go anyway. After all the troubles we went through just to get to the spawn place, I’d be mad if they just give up.
Due to my relatively low lvl (the other BLMs are lvl 75), I was put into adds pt. Had to keep the Ice Elementals & bombs that aggro the main alliance asleep.
At first everything went fine, the adds were slept and the main alliance did decent damage on Jorm. While concentrating on recasting Sleepga II, I noticed most of the main alliance just dropped like flies. LS leader told us to log off and shutdown the game to avoid aggro. My good luck kicked in, I lagged out (notice I was being sarcastic :p). I couldn’t shutdown the game straight away and I couldn’t do anything about it. Well, when I finally logged back on, I was dead
. Oh well at least the WHM had Raise III so I didn’t lose a big chunk of exp.
After all ppl were back alive, we decided to skip Jorm and do gods instead. Me and the BLMs warped everyone back to Jeuno and we quickly regrouped there.
The graphics in sky is just too awesome, I still haven’t got sick of it.
First god we did was Seiryu. I was really excited, it was my first god run. We set up a stun order and Rilu gave me tips.
But…. AMAGAD THE LAGZOR!!11!!!!1!!!elevenelevenshift+1 (why do I start to talk this way? I blame the ls :D)
My stun spells always go off a few seconds late, was trying to nuke it too with no luck.
After Seiryu, we moved on to Suzaku. Same strategy as Seiryu.
On our way to the next god, Genbu I got aggro-ed by some dolls. I thought every dolls only aggro magic, so I just ran, minding my own business. Little did I know, that in some small rooms along the wall, there are dolls which aggro on sight
I died, Rilu, Codezero, Nestae, and Raziel waited for me and took care of adds until I was raised. Thanks guys!
But since the main alliance started the fight before we got there, we couldn’t use the teleporter and join the fight. Because of my death, I held them back that they could not join the fight. I felt so bad ![]()
The main alliance had so much fun though, I was on Ventrilo listening to some of the guys planning who to kill by binding Genbu next to them. Meanies! but good thing the WHMs have Raise III and the ppl actually laughing and not cursing.
An Aquarian Abjuration dropped from Genbu. Since there was no other BLMs in the alliance, I could lot for it although I didn’t go for the fight. Now I only need to get lv. 73, shell out 2.2 mil gil to get the cursed items and use the abjuration to get Zenith Mitts
Last god on the list was Byakko. This one was somewhat harder than the rest, but nothing we couldn’t handle.
After that, being the only BLM in the alliance, I had to warp everyone back to Jeuno =.=
I got A.Abjuration though, so I wasn’t gonna complain.
