Adept in Fishing and Alchemy!

The last couple of days had been great, FFXI wise…. my real-life situation is just crappy at the moment, cause of my assignments. So I was dead bored doing my assignment when I tried to multi-task… I was drawing diagrams and fishing at the same time. Surprisingly, it worked quite well….
I alternate fishing in North and South Qufim every hour. Warped back to Jeuno to unload my fishies to AH. Three Eyed Fish that I caught will go to Wabo for him to synth to Paralysis Dust then Paralysing Potion. All the Gigant Squid and Black Soles go straight to AH. Usually, by the next two hours, all of the fish will be gone, so I can keep refillinf my AH slots.
In the last 2 days I managed to get both Fishing and Alchemy from 76 to 78, yay! Now that Wabo doesn’t need Three Eyed Fish anymore cause it’s capped at 78, I moved my fishing spot to Port Jeuno. Why? Because it’s easier to fish there when you’re also working on your assignment at the same time, you won’t catch any monster. Not to mention the Cobalt Jellyfish that I catch there can be broken down and HQ’ed into Mercury by Wabo and can be sold for quite a bit of money.
I’m having problem leveling Wabo’s Alchemy though. I was planning to synthesize Bloody Bolt Heads which caps at 81, but I can’t find Revival Root in any AH. Of course I can easily farm it, but I don’t have the time 
So I’m planning to just jump ahead and do Ouka Ranman, the fireworks, which caps at 84 but requires 23 Woodworking. So it’s Woodworking time for me, though I’m keeping my eyes open for any Revival Root in AH.
Black Mage Alliance for Divine Might

I was thinking of getting more xp and put my flag up when Nekoyumi invited me for Divine Might with 15 black mages.
I’m actually against the idea of doing missions with random people, but since gathering so many blms is a hard work, this kind of invitation is not gonna come often.
The trip there itself was painless, Nekoyumi was a good leader with a good plan. We buffed before entering the BCNM. When we got in, we started casting Flare to measure our casting range, but not letting the spell to go off. As soon as we were in the range, we rested so Nekoyumi could see when everyone’s ready. Stood up while preparing forElemental Seal and then Thundaga III, typing it in command so all we need is to press enter and the spell will start. This is done because the uniformity of timing is very important.
At Nekoyumi’s call, we started casting. Then when it happened… I was lagged big time -.- somehow my spell didn’t go off. So when the Ark Angels started attacking the BLMs, I pressed enter again. But before the spell goes off, those Ark Angels were already dead.
Yes, I was leeching. Not like I wanted to though, it was very embarassing for me…
Gobbie Bags

I’m saving money for my crafting, but for some reason I just feel like spending some money. Keep in mind that I have heaps of assignments lately and can only fish for about 2 stacks of Black Soles each day with a few Three Eyed Fish here and there, so roughly around 150,000 gil a day.
Today, I just went off and decided to do the remaining 2 Gobbie Bag quests, the 5th and 6th one.
Gobbie Bag V:
- Rhodonite - 20,000 gil
- Paktong Ingot - 13,000 gil
- Moblinweave - 30,000 gil
- Bugard Leather - 4000 gil
- Total: 67000 gil
Gobbie Bag VI
- Shakudo Ingot - 50,000 gil
- Balloon Cloth - 10,000 gil
- Iolite - 150,000 gil
- H.Q Eft Skin - 4000 gil
- Total: 214,000 gil
So both quest kicked me back by 281,000 gil. About 2 days worth of playing *sobs*
Elemental staves help crafting?

I was reading Tuufles’ Goldsmithing Blog yesterday and noticed how she wears her staff in crafting. So when I went out to go fishing, I wore my Water Staff with me, hoping that it would help me get the effect of Watersday which is better for fishing. Well, I supposed it’s better if I wear a Light Staff, better skill up I think? but I don’t have one :p .
Usually I just go fishing wearing whatever staff I happened to have with me, which is usually a Dark Staff, if the staves give the effect of the same type of day.. well no wonder usually I get very little bites…
So I went to North Qufim, cast my fishing line and waited….
Result? I caught twice as many fish compared to the usual <3 I don’t know if it’s really because of the Water Staff or not, but I’m gonna wear it now everytime I go fishing.
