Working on ToAU Missions
Feb/070
Surprisingly today was quite a productive day in FFXI. Started out with killing Tiamat when I woke up. The teamwork was a bit of a mess actually and it took us a lot longer to kill than we usually do. Adds were plenty and although there were a lot of stunners, Firaga III went off quite a few times. But still, my damage output was still crap as usual, I need to start getting merit so I can unlock level 2 ancient magic
When I was watching the other black mages unleased their various lvl 2 ancient magic… I felt so small with my Thunder & Water IV
After Tiamat, I felt like levelling my Red Mage or something because it will enable me to solo my merit point. Merit parties these days only want warrior, red mage and bard only
Luckily, before I head out to Windurst I realized that I would need to set my home point somewhere around Windurst if I were to level Red Mage. It’s a real hassle to ride the ship back to Whitegate. So I did the Olduum quest, which gives Olduum Ring that enables me to warp to Wajaom Woodlands and run to Whitegate. Definitely a lot faster than the boat ride. Dkhayaa told me to dig around Aydeewa Subterrane to find some kind of fossil from the Olduum civilization. I broke about 5 pickaxes before getting an Electropot which I took back to Dkhayaa. I got a Lightning Band in return that I had to trade to the Leypoint in Wajaom Woodlands… I wish quests can be more straightforward…
I decided to start working on Treasure of Aht Urghan missions. At least plenty of them just require me to run around and talk to people, I won’t be able to catch up with the rest if ToAU missions are like Promathia missions. I started on mission 5 which required me to go to the Chateau in North San d’Oria and talked to the Elvaans there to discover that the crown prince is also called the Lord of Illegibility (nice one). The next mission only told me to go to Jeuno, easy enough… but I had to go there after the time resets at midnight Japanese time *sighs*
I was sitting around sorting through my stuff when I saw my dust-gathering Signal Pearl, completely forgotten about it. So I took Ehgo-Ryugo for a stroll in Sauromugue Champaign while killing Skinks and Tabar Beak. He got tired and dissapeared after about 15 mobs though
An even longer day
Feb/070
Encephalon told me to log on after dinner, which I did and we duo-ed Wamoura Princes at the Gate of Halvung. Well although it only lasted 30 minutes, Empress Band wore off right as the last mob died. Perfect :p
I decided to look for Cast Metal Plate so I don’t depend on other people all the time… and I think it’s about time I get my lazy ass and get it anyway
Here’s the stupid part, I load up FFXI Atlas and ran too ALL of the points… after not getting it at the last point, I started warping and THEN I read that I should’ve checked the gate first before I can find the points…..
After I got back in Whitegate, I met Baos. We started talking and I figured out how he just doesn’t remember anything about me except my name, pretty much :p Said “I haven’t seen you since expansion was released, you just installed it or something?” he didn’t even remember getting both of us hopelessly lost in a dungeon trying to unlock Corsair and Puppetmaster cause he said he knew the way *rolls eyes*
I got a pearl back to Wabo, much to my surprise actually, and found out that quite a lot of the older player start quitting or just don’t play hardcore anymore
After that Afruu, Kujoh and me went to help Pyomi in taking Bugbear Matman. Too bad that Pyomi only had one air tank and we didn’t get the drops
so Fu and I went to help farm it for about an hour… but still didn’t get it :p
Skilling Up in Boyahda Tree
Feb/070
I logged on for longer this time. I was fed up with doing my assignments (yes, in a weekend) that I decided I’ll do something in FF. I logged just in time for a Besieged. Perfect chance to get my rhythm playing a black mage or so I thought. What a dissapointment when I got there I was just resting and buffing myself and the mobs retreated -.-
Aaaanyway, when I thought of fishing I saw some guy shouting for a skillup in Boyahda Tree. Meh, why not… I’m sick of fishing at this time around anyway. The result was not too bad. I got my club skill up to 202 and we disbanded right when I get sleepy. Love it.
Hopefully tomorrow I can get a pearl back to Wabo
Unlocking Blue Mage
Feb/070
So I tried doing something to re-light my interest in FFXI. Earlier today I was reading Tuufles’ blog about her journey as a Blue Mage and that sparked my interest. I’d love to play something versatile, support character that doesn’t have people yell “Refresh!!” at you every 3 seconds *cough* Red Mage*cough*
After fishing for black sole for an hour (which lvled my fishing skill to 95 tyvm ^^) I decided to give it a try. At least for this one I don’t need help (thank God). How I hate FFXI for making you so dependent on other people to get things done.
The quest itself was pretty painless. I was asked to get a blue jewel, which means Siren’s Tear in North Gustaberg. It would’ve been so easy if I just hop on the airship to Port Bastok and get out to North Gustaberg that way… but noooooooo. The airship just had to left as soon as I was one step away from hopping into it. Bah!!
So I had to take the long way of riding a chocobo unless I want to wait another 11 minutes for the next airship and not counting the travel time to Bastok itself.
I found the “???” on the far side of the waterfall in North Gustaberg. Warped back to Aht Urghan Whitegate and talked to the guy again. After that was done I stocked up on Silent Oil and made my way to Aydeewa Subterrane through Bhaflau Thicket.
I freaked out inside Aydeewa when I realised that my reraise isn’t on. You can laugh at me… but I’m REALLY REALLY bad at avoiding aggro and finding my way using a map. For some reason when my sneak and invisible about to dissapear, the connection decided to lagged out at that moment and give the three warnings together one second before the spell wears off. That happened waaaaaaaaaaaaay to often to be accidental.
Anyway, I got the cutscenes needed without any death ^^ and now I can be a Blue Mage!! *cheers*
Back! or am I….?

Sorry for the serious lack of update. I got tired of FFXI again last September, plus I got seriously busy with Uni too
Hopefully this post will mark my return to FFXI, except that I have to play less… Ha, not like I played THAT much before *rolls eyes*
